The mission of the Foodbank of the VA Peninsula is to distribute food effectively through collaborative efforts that minimize hunger, promote nutrition and self-reliance through education. Volunteers can help in our warehouse to sort food, clean the cans, stock shelves, coolers and freezers, pack food bags, pull food orders, cook meals in the kitchen (during school season), offload trucks, and perform light housekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping. Volunteers can help out at special events which take place on weekends or evenings.

When life is threatened by terminal illness, the patient and family need to know they're not alone. In the last stages of an illness, the focus changes from a "cure" to a "quality of life" mode of care.
