The CNU Volunteer Fair
In an effort to provide a 'connecting resource' for our Community Partners, Students, and Faculty, the Center offered its first Volunteer Fair in September 2009. Over 50 non profit organizations and 350 students and faculty attended the event, which was held in the Ballroom of the David Student Union. The event will be held once a year and may eventually be held once a semester.
The success of the Fair is measured not only by the large numbers in attendance, but by the service partnerships that develop as a result. Students who attend can then sign up for a semester of service through Volunteer CNU or a Service Learning Course. Faculty members who attend can begin a dialogue with organizations related to their expertise, and explore the possibility of developing a service learning course centered on those organizations. Finally, through the Volunteer Fair, our Community Partners are able to find additional support for the many needs they serve. It's what we could call a 'win-win-win' situation.
**All organizations registered with our Center as Community Partners will be invited to attend the next Volunteer Fair.**
